Footpath is disappearing due to overgrowth from both sides plus enormous weeds

Reported via desktop in the Pavement/footpath/cycleway/bridleway issue (NH) category anonymously at 14:58, Fri 19 July 2024

Sent to National Highways less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 6250503.

The issue has still not been addressed & every time I use this footpath, I am taking a risk. There has been a half-hearted attempt to cut back overgrown on hedge side but only in small areas. The big issue of an ever- decreasing footpath & major weed problem has ignored. Today again, the long weeds got caught up in my bike & I had to stop to clear them otherwise I could have been thrown onto the road. This job requires boots on the ground to deal with the clearance, not a flail mower which has only done a very small area. I understand that this is a busy road but this is precisely why we have to use the footpath. I have photos taken today which I can send. How do I do this? PLEASE, PLEASE address this urgently.

Updates

  • Thank you for making your report. We have asked our inspection team to attend this location and assess the issue this week.

If any work is needed, they will arrange for this to happen. Should no immediate work be required we will continue to monitor this during our regular inspections.

Although we always aim to complete repairs as quickly as possible, timescales do vary as we try to minimise disruption to customers by combining activities into single closures and always ensuring the safety of our people.

    Kind regards National Highways
