Terrible surface for cycling

Reported via mobile in the Pavement/footpath issue (NH) category anonymously at 00:29, Friday 19 July 2024

Sent to National Highways less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 6248213.

The re-roured cycle behind the IWay Inn hotel is NOT fit for purpose. Thwre are many rupees of bikes. Whilst this may be ok for Gravel or Mountain bikes it is not suitable for road bikes with 23mm tyres.

People will fall of on this surface and get hurt.

The surface is also claggy/clay like when wet and getting stuck all over the bikes.

The surface is already breaking up leaving rivets and tracks on the surface.

You have made a surface similar to a beach which is not acceptable

The surface of the previous cycle path running alongside the A428 was a hard tarmaced surface and your own project advised that the new surface would be the same as the surface being replaced.

This was a lie as you have tried to do it on the cheap.

This is a multiple million pound project and you are penny pinching on a resources that impacts the residents directly.

You have provided no provision to cross the A1198 to Caxton Gibbet and people are no walking down the busy road withthere backs to the traffic getting to the bike path to Papworth.

The residents are going to be impacted for many years for this project so the least you could do it provide adequate facilities whilst to build the news roads.

You need to do better.
