Unhealthy tree, already split - potential danger
Reported via mobile in the Fallen/ Dead Tree (NH) category anonymously at 22:23, Thursday 18 July 2024
Sent to National Highways less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 6247920.
There are several overgrown conifers backing on to our property. Much taller than the building and overhanging close to windows. One split in the winter high winds and a huge limb, the width of the garden fell on a car. Tree is not looking as healthy as the others and all the property owners are concerned that if it comes down, it will cause severe damage to our building, with a risk to life. The garden of our flats at Kendale Coury, Weston Road, GU2 8AU is very small and completely overshadowed by these trees and their height and position make it almost impossible to insure the building. The last limb, which was the width of the garden, was never removed by yourselves, despite being reported. We had y to o hire equipment to cut it up ourselves. We are tolerating the overnight works on the A3, right outside our bedroom window, but feel the health and stability of the trees should be addressed, especially as you are messing around in the root network. Would also like the dumped rubbish - not ours removed too!

Thank you for submitting this report. This area of A3 was inspected in 2022-2023, and some dangerous Ash and Birch trees have been identified. We’ve instructed a suitable contractor to commence tree remediation works based on tree survey recommendations. The tree inspections take place every three years, so the next one is expected in 2025-2026. If tree surveyors identify any dangerous trees, then these will be included in the new scope of work in the future, depending on trees risk ratings. Our inspector has reviewed this. Currently this isn’t causing any safety concerns, we will continue to monitor this and will arrange any required work if the situation changes.
We are not responsible for rubbish removal here. National Highways manage motorways and certain ‘A’ road trunks roads in England, all other roads are the responsibility local authorities. Contact details for local authorities can be found by using the search facility at: www.gov.uk/find-your-local-council.
