Pedestrian footbridge over the A27 near the Portfield roundabout has been closed for many weeks. When will the footbridge be opened for public use to enhance safety of pedestrians crossing the A27 to/from Shopwyke?

  • Thank you for making your report and we appreciate any frustrations with the delay in opening the new footbridge built by the third party developers Cala Homes.

    We understand that it's anticipated that subject to final approval of compliance certification the footbridge should be opened by the end of July. As we're sure you’ll appreciate we have to be confident that any structures built by others on our network meet current standards and more importantly considered safe.
