Dumped road work equipment

Reported via mobile in the Abandoned Materials (NH) category anonymously at 22:32, Thursday 4 July 2024

Sent to National Highways less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 6193344.

Road work equipment left abandoned along every major road, at every junction/roundabout in the country. This disgraceful behaviour demonstrated by your TM companies has been going on for years and only getting worse because you continue to fail to do anything about it. Instead you reward this persistent flytipping/littering and clear contempt of tax payer's money by giving them more contracts. Chevron, Martins and Ringway to name a few.

Updates

  • Thank you for contacting National Highways regarding the We acknowledge that historically, there have been locations on the network where traffic management equipment has not been collected swiftly.

We’ve recently initiated a campaign to affirm to our supply chain a requirement for prompt collection of the equipment. In addition, we’ve written to all supply chain partners to carry out a cleanse of the network where each supplier has been operating.

This recent purge has resulted in hundreds of individual items being collected. Utilising our inspectors, we’re now actively policing the situation post works to ensure our redundant equipment is collected. We’re confident moving forward any schemes where we require traffic management equipment, will be collected when the work has been completed. We’ll continue to closely monitor this situation.
