Faded lane markings

Reported via desktop in the Faded / Hard to see (NH) category anonymously at 16:13, Wed 3 July 2024

Sent to National Highways less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 6187495.

The lane markings to come off the roundabout are faded. I nearly had someone drive into me as they attempted to go from the A34 exit lane to the M3 slip road. They crossed my lane (A34 and M3 exit) as cars were exciting to A34.I have seen this happen numerous times before, it’s a dangerous roundabout with lots of crashes for exactly this reason - poor signage and now road markings faded to hardly visible.

Updates

  • Thank you for making your report. Thank you for bringing this issue to our attention. We sincerely apologise for the inconvenience and potential danger you experienced due to the faded lane markings at the roundabout.

We are aware of the need to maintain the junction markings and have been monitoring the situation. Initially, we planned to improve the junction in 2024, but due to delays, this project is now expected to start in 2025. Consequently, we had postponed renewing the markings in anticipation of the comprehensive improvement project.

Given the delay, we recognize the immediate need to address the faded markings to ensure the safety of all road users. We are proposing a temporary renewal of the necessary markings in the coming months, subject to funding approval.

We appreciate your patience and understanding as we work to enhance the safety and clarity of the roundabout.

    Kind regards National Highways
