Blocked drains

Reported via mobile in the Flooding/drainage (NH) category anonymously at 21:36, Tue 2 July 2024

Sent to National Highways less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 6183813.

Drains on the roadside northbound where the A1 joins the A697 are all blocked by gravel and soil. When it rains the water runs down this road and regularly floods the side of the A1. We have unblocked these drains before, but I think they are too blocked for us this time. Thank you

Updates

  • Thank you for your email of 2 July 2024 about blocked drains on the roadside northbound where the A1 joins the A697. We understand your concerns and appreciate you taking the time to contact us about the issue.

We're aware of issues here with blocked gullies. There are temporary flood warning boards out to mitigate the risk for oncoming traffic.

We have some underground issues here with pipes and works are planned to rectify this in the coming weeks which should help to resolve the gullies being blocked in future.

They’re available 24 hours a day by phone: 0300 123 5000 or by email info@nationalhighways.co.uk. Alternatively, please visit the National Highways website at nationalhighways.co.uk.
