Road Signs Obscured

Reported via mobile in the Overgrown or obscuring view (NH) category anonymously at 12:06, Monday 24 June 2024

Sent to National Highways less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 6146516.

We are receiving lots of complaints from our drivers stating that the road signs are obscured by vegetation and restricting the width of the road due to how far they're in the carriageway. This needs to be looked at as a matter of urgency please as the route D2x uses this road with double decker buses and we do not need anymore windows put through due to low or overhanging trees,

  • Yesterday I was driving to Bath on Lower Stoke Road. A huge articulated lorry was stuck. It had followed the Diversion signs but then realised it could not get under the railway bridge. The drive called the police but had Waite an hour when we arrived to a solid line of cars each sude. My co driver and I stopped the traffic each side of the bridge to allow the driver to turn. A mighty effort! Once he did he drove back along the road but hit lots of overhanging trees and branches with broke on top of his lorry, then crashed into the road. The stationary drivers then picked up as much as possible, but the trees were left in a dangerous state with branches cracked and overhanging the road. This needs urgent attention as many other lorry drivers will probably take this route.
