Blocked drains and debris in gulley
Reported via mobile in the Flooding/drainage (NH) category anonymously at 18:40, Sat 22 June 2024
Sent to National Highways less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 6141110.
Along this stretch of the A5 in Tamworth, the gulleys are incredibly littered with debris. Most of the debris has accumulated around the drains impeding the drainage of water; this problem will only get worse so the gulleys and their drains are in desperate need of being cleaned. We have suffered recently with water accumulating on the A5 in two different locations along the A5 from M42 J10 heading westbound resulting in road closures on both occasions. Gulleys and drains along this stretch of the A5 do need to be cleared and cleaned to allow free drainage of water. I travel this road regularly and believe the problem has been present over the winter to spring period with leaf and litter waste adding to the problems. Thank you.

Thank you for making your report. We asked our inspection team to attend this location and assess the issue.
From A5 Mile Oak WB Exit Slip, the Catchpit in the V-Channel at the bottom to the slip is covered with Silt and Detritus. We have raised work for this to be cleared within 7 days.
Although we always aim to complete repairs as quickly as possible, timescales do vary as we try to minimise disruption to customers by combining activities into single closures and always ensuring the safety of our people.
Kind regards National Highways
