Lack of lighting between Jct20-21 on the M62

Reported via desktop in the Not working (NH) category anonymously at 18:21, Tue 11 June 2024

Sent to National Highways less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 6095144.

Hi, I am interested in streetlighting and I have noticed that the majority of lighting between Jct20 - 21 on the M62 doesn't work. Because a small amount do work and this is a busy stretch, I imagine they haven't been disconnected and simply require new bulbs. Is it possible that these can be fixed eventually and not replaced by LED? I hope this was a bit of use.

Updates

  • Thank you for contacting National Highways about the streetlights.

We have switched lighting off on this stretch of road to support the Department of Transport’s aim to reduce carbon emissions. These roads have been carefully chosen with all road users safety considered.

We are still using road lighting where it is needed, however, we are confident that we can use less of it without a significant impact on safety. We will continue to monitor this and may restore the lighting if the situation changes.

    Kind regards

    National Highways
