Updates

  • Thank you for making your report about domestic furniture on the M32. We appreciate you taking the time to contact us.

We carry out regular inspections of all our routes and schedule flytipping/litter picking activities for any areas requiring attention.

Your concerns have been passed to our maintenance team. They will inspect the area within the next few days and arrange for the furniture to be cleared.

We share your concern that flytipping/ litter on our roads is unsightly as well as a risk to wildlife and the environment. It’s a huge challenge to keep roads free of waste and debris and can take hours to clear each stretch of road.

In some areas there is no safe space for our colleagues to work. In these circumstances it is necessary to close lanes or slip roads to ensure we can work in safety. These closures are co-ordinated with other maintenance work to minimise disruption for our customers, which can occasionally cause delays in clearing the items from some locations.

On occasions litter and waste materials will accumulate shortly after we have removed it. We trust you will appreciate the balance between the appearance of the waste against the safety of our workforce, the associated costs and the potential inconvenience caused by removing it.

If you require any further information please contact our Customer Contact Centre on 0300 123 5000 or info@nationalhighways.co.uk, or visit our website at www.nationalhighways.co.uk.

    Kind regards
