Sudden lane closure and abrupt speed limit change.

Sent to National Highways less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 6069979.

Just before services on M1 southbound carriageway at 22:00 today, lanes 1, 2 and 3 closed with 'Red X' and 40mph speed limit imposed (from national speed limit) with no clear reason. I think this was applied to wrong carriageway. The error was not corrected on subsequent gantries, leading to confusion and slow moving traffic in lane 4. This was incredibly dangerous and should be investigated as a near miss.
