Dangerously Uneven Surface

Reported via mobile in the Road surface (NH) category anonymously at 08:44, Tue 4 June 2024

Sent to National Highways less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 6059158.

As of June 2024, roadworks are taking place closing lane 1 of the A180 (W) in the area of Croxton. However, at the end of these roadworks, when lane 1 re-opens with around 1mi until A180/A15 Barnetby Interchange, the condition of the road surface is impassable without causing damage to your vehicle.

The surface is all at different heights with heavy dipping and previous poor repairs making driving in a straight line not possible. It therefore presents the issue that if avoiding action needed to be taken whilst driving, would there be enough time to do so or would the resistance created by these large areas of deterioration slow down any action you, as a driver, intended to take. In Lane 1, from 1mi before the junction right the way until the A180 becomes the M180 and the tarmac road surface begins, can only be described as a rollercoaster with so many changes in road height and patched repairs that pull you from side to side.

I know full well that your response will be inadequate and therefore directly ask those that are responsible for maintaining this stretch of A-road to use their own personal vehicles on a daily basis on this stretch of carriageway for as long as it takes to realise there is such a huge problem and a major accident waiting to happen. Again, not Highways Maintenance vehicles but there own personal vehicles and see how long it takes before they: a) complain b) need to make repairs to their vehicle due to the damage caused by this horrendous stretch of road c) stop using the road entirely (even if it adds 10-15mins on their journey)
