Many converging potholes

Reported via desktop in the Pothole (NH) category anonymously at 09:02, Fri 31 May 2024

Sent to National Highways less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 6042817.

Many, deep, converging, potholes at point where slip road meets the A1M. They are impossible to avoid and cause a problem just at the moment of maximum acceleration to rejoin the motorway.

Updates

  • Thank you for contacting us via FixMyStreet on 31 May 2024 to report several potholes on the entry slip of the A1(M), Birtley. We appreciate the time you’ve taken to contact us.

We can advise we recently conducted resurfacing on the mainline and entry slip on the northbound carriageway due to surface defects. We’re aware of further defects and currently discussions are taking place for a possible reactive scheme.

In the meantime, we’ve arranged for a site visit this week to review the current conditions you've reported.

Once again thank you for contacting us. If you require any further update on this issue our Customer Contact Centre is available 24 hours a day at:
