Noise from road over bridge

Reported via mobile in the Structures (eg bridges, fencing, noise barriers) (NH) category anonymously at 23:08, Tuesday 28 May 2024

Sent to National Highways less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 6032210.

Since the road was resurfaced (probably 4-6 months ago) there is a continuous banging noise when cars pass over the bridge. This never used to be an issue so must be something to do with the gap left after the resurfacing. If you walk down by the river the noise is ridiculously loud!!!! The noise reverberates and continues all day ever day. Please can you come back and repair the road to the way it used to be!!!

  • Thank you for making your report. We have asked our inspection team to attend this location and assess the issue.

If any work is needed, they will arrange for this to happen. Should no immediate work be required we will continue to monitor this during our regular inspections.

Although we always aim to complete repairs as quickly as possible, timescales do vary as we try to minimise disruption to customers by combining activities into single closures and always ensuring the safety of our people.

We will attend site / investigate to determine scope of any further holding repairs.

A significant scheme is in the pipeline to fully refurbish the bridge deck on this structure to extend it’s service life which will take extensive planning / co-ordination due to its location.

    Kind regards National Highways
