Failed backfill behind bridge abutment

Reported via desktop in the Structures (eg bridges, fencing, noise barriers) (NH) category anonymously at 10:20, Mon 13 May 2024

Sent to National Highways less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 5965421.

The backfill behind the new bridge abutments spanning the new A556 has sunk. This could be a failure of the back of wall drainage or backfill materials installed adjacent to the abutment (or lack of back of wall drainage). Long term settlement will occur as the bump now being experienced when travelling over the bridge is getting worse. The settlement has been evident for several months.
