Reported via desktop in the Graffiti (NH) category anonymously at 14:04, Thursday 9 May 2024
Sent to National Highways less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 5951476.
You advised that thise has been passed to the relevant team and will be dealt with in due course but is not a priority and the case has been closed.
This is very disppointing. How can it be closed when the graffiti is still there? Surely it should remain open until it has been removed? In addition I reported the same issue months ago and I assume you closed it the same way but as can be seen it is not closed because it all remains.
Sorry but I am not happy with how this issue has been dealt with, may i politely ask for a senior member of the team contact me to discuss the way such issues are treated please?

Thank you for contacting us. Fix My Street (FMS) is a reporting tool and is designed for the public to report defects such as broken signs or barriers, litter, overgrown vegetation or potholes. Any reports received will be closed once they have been acknowledged by our team. Our policy is to remove offensive graffiti within 24 hours of identification. If the Graffiti is non-offensive, it’ll be recorded for removal within our routine maintenance programme. I hope you can understand that clearing graffiti is very costly and is an ongoing challenge across our network, and therefore with a limited budget we are required to concentrate our efforts on prioritising work like carriageway and structural asset defects first. Unfortunately, this may cause graffiti to be left on the roadside for longer periods than we’d like as we’ll usually look to combine graffiti removal with other maintenance work which can result in what appears to be a delayed response. I can assure you our team are aware of the graffiti at this location, and we’ll be looking at solutions to tackle this where possible.
Should you wish to query this further, please contact our Customer Contact Centre team directly. They are available 24 hours a day at: • 0300 123 5000 • info@nationalhighways.co.uk Kind regards National Highways
