Discarded signs on traffic island

Reported via desktop in the Flyposting (NH) category by Tony Merrygold at 16:25, Sunday 5 May 2024

Sent to National Highways less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 5935155.

I'm not sure if fly-posting is the right category for this but none of the others seem to fit.

There are a number of old temporary signs which have been on this traffic island for a number of years now. They have obviously been left behind by a contractor who has forgotten all about them. A mixture of Men Working and Blue / White arrows, with folding steel frames and dead sandbags.

Updates

  • Thank you for contacting National Highways regarding the redundant traffic management equipment.

We carry out equipment removal on a bi-monthly basis. Where we have identified redundant equipment, this will be removed. However, in some cases we do leave items in place for future use. Some isolated cones may also be in place for a specific purpose that may not be clear to passing vehicles.

    Kind regards

    National Highways

  • Still open, via questionnaire, 20:11, Sunday 2 June 2024

  • If you check bi-monthly it should have been removed by now.

  • Four months on they are all still there. It is a wonder they haven't been collected by the local scrap metal pickup truck.

  • Six months on still there. WDC aren't interested as it doesn't count as fly tipping. WCC say it is National Highways problems. NH have done nothing. Scrap metal companies are only licensed to collect from private addresses not the public highway.

  • The metal frames have been removed but not the plasticky signs or the sandbags.

    State changed to: Fixed
