Red sign not displaying correctly on gantry / speed limit not displayed correctly

Reported via mobile in the Sign Obscured (NH) category anonymously at 01:58, Sunday 5 May 2024

Sent to National Highways less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 5933737.

Hi. I have been travelling from Wakefield to Bradford along the M62 today between 11.45 - 1.30AM with vehicle reg RK62 URN, I joined the motorway and remained at a speed of 60-70 mph. With the motorway being smart, I understand the speed may have changed however there was no sign indicating the speed limit. Upon passing one speed camera, I have been flashed however was doing below 70mph. Shortly after, I have been flashed again at the next camera doing below 70mph. It seems the signs are incorrect as I would never intentionally speed against the limit in force. I am confused as to whether the flash may be due to me being in a X lane - the gantry displaying the X is faulty and is not an X as I can recall seeing a distorted red dot mark on the signboard. Unfortunately I don't have the precise location however it was along below journey:

1. From M62(W) slip road to Manchester/Leeds/Bradford

2. Merge onto M62 (8.8 mi)

3. Jct 26, left lane to take M606/A58 exit to Bradford/Halifax.
