Deep potholes along large section of bypass

Reported via mobile in the Pothole (NH) category anonymously at 12:30, Wed 1 May 2024

Sent to National Highways less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 5920589.

For several months now, potholes have been forming and getting larger and deeper along this stretch of the A56 northbound. If a motorcyclist hits any of these defects, they are likely to end up coming off their bike and could potentially be killed. I can see many reports have already been submitted. Are we waiting for an accident to happen before action is taken?

Updates

  • Thank you for making your report. We recently did patch repairs on the A56 and a resurfacing scheme is scheduled later this year.

In the meantime, we have asked our inspection team to attend this location and assess the issue.

If any work is needed, they will arrange for this to happen. Should no immediate work be required we will continue to monitor this during our regular inspections.

Although we always aim to complete repairs as quickly as possible, timescales do vary as we try to minimise disruption to customers by combining activities into single closures and always ensuring the safety of our people.

    Kind regards National Highways
