Worrying road noise from traffic on M5 over this bridge junction 30

Reported via mobile in the Structures (eg bridges, fencing, noise barriers) (NH) category anonymously at 21:09, Sun 21 April 2024

Sent to National Highways less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 5881918.

When you wait at traffic lights underneath the M5 junction 30 heading towards Sandy Park and there is significant traffic on the M5 above there is a lot of noise - a clattery noise as traffic drives over something loose or uneven- maybe a man hole (surely not on a motorway?). (50.7118824, -3.4640557)Or perhaps there is a join in the bridge here. Anyway it’s been like this a long time but I’ve been reading a book on civil engineering accidents and was prompted to ask you to go and listen during rush hour when you’re nearby. The noise must be made by force and repetitive force can damage things I suppose.

If any work is needed, they'll arrange for this to happen. Should no immediate work be required we'll continue to monitor this during our regular inspections.
