Congestion on whole roundabout j3 m3

Reported via mobile in the Traffic lights (NH) category by Jonathan Blackwell at 10:14, Wed 10 April 2024

Sent to National Highways less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 5832792.

Since the resurfacing on the bridges of junction 3 m3 the traffic sensors don't seem to be detecting traffic from lightwater to Bagshot and m3 North. It does change but two or three cars pass then its red again. This is causing the whole roundabout to get congested, there has been a problem with the lightwater bypass for years but now it's even worse since the resurfacing. Please send someone to check the timings and sensors, currently the delays are 15- 45min reported on local social media. Hopefully someone will see this and get the ball rolling. Thank you and all the best jon Lightwater resident

I apologise for the delays you are experiencing and thank you for your patience while we resolve this issue. We appreciate our customer’s feedback and insight.

We’re responsible for the maintenance of these traffic lights and we’re aware of the delays that have been experienced at this junction. This roundabout was recently resurfaced, and the new traffic signal detector loops had not yet been commissioned, so the controller wasn’t able to adapt the timing to traffic flow.

I’m happy to report that the new traffic signal detector loops have been installed, and the site will now run as normal so you shouldn’t experience delays here any longer.

    Kind regards National Highways
