Traffic lights only letting maximum 2 cars through

Sent to National Highways less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 5802790.

M1 Jct 36 northbound off slip road. Traffic lights on the end of the slip road are only letting maximum 2 cars through before changing back to red. Been through 3 times today and same on all 3 occasions. I travel this way everyday and today is definitely not the usual.

  • Thank you for contacting National Highways.

    The local authority is responsible for maintenance issues of this nature on this road. However we've been informed that they believe that resurfacing the bridge deck has impacted why the lights are running to max on that approach, and minimum times to the slip road.

    An engineer has amended the signal timings, putting the site in VA with the max’s set to 30 seconds on each approach. This should resolve it until the detection is sorted out.
