Traffic light phasing has changed recently, causing huge tailbacks on all roads into Bayston Hill roundabout

Reported via desktop in the Traffic lights (NH) category anonymously at 11:55, Wed 27 March 2024

Sent to National Highways less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 5772870.

Traffic lights are working, but the phasing has changed recently (since about 23rd March) such that once traffic is allowed onto the roundabout, it is immediately held up within it as the exiting lights are red. This creates tailbacks because vehicles block the exit when there is a change of lights for an adjacent entry. All roads onto the roundabout (A5 East & Westbound), A49 north and southbound) are affected, and delays of 10 minutes or more are common, and safety is compromised due to vehicles attempting to squeeze into space where there is none.
