Closing A42 slip road but no signage on A453 to warn drivers

Reported via desktop in the Electronic Sign (NH) category anonymously at 14:55, Wed 20 March 2024

Sent to National Highways less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 5743460.

Twice now I have dropped onto the M1 off the A453 from Nottingham in order to get onto the M42 only to find I can't as the slip road has been closed for works. Why National Highways are not displaying this fact on the electronic sign on the A453 I do not know - thereby allowing drivers to take an alternative route.....like crossing the island over the M1 and continuing to follow the A453 to join the A42 further on. Instead, all traffic then has to drive miles out of your way down to Loughborough J23 M1 to then double back along the A512.

Updates

  • 20/03/2024 23:30 - Same again tonight. Digital signs on A453 alerting drivers to a closure on the A50 somewhere but not to the fact the M1/A42 slip road is closed so you cannot get on to the A42.
