Flags on footbridge over road

Reported via mobile in the Structures (eg bridges, fencing, noise barriers) (NH) category anonymously at 20:54, Tue 19 March 2024

Sent to National Highways less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 5739766.

On the over bridge between Mill Lane and Waterhall, Brighton there are Palestinian flags attached to the railings. They distract drivers due to the potential of provoking an emotional response to their public display and could be interpreted as political support for a terrorist organisation. They could also be deemed as offensive to certain members of British society. As such they should be removed. The roads are not the place for political expression or support for overseas issues. These flags are also displayed on the over bridge of the A23 between Waterhall and Braypool Lane, Brighton.
