Litter between M1 Wakefield and M42 turn off South and North bound.

I do not have the privilege of giving a specific location as all along the M1 as stated is strewn with litter and plastic hanging from trees. It is a disgraceful mess. Asking to give a specific location seems like some kind of joke.
Please could inform as to what is being done about this? It seems like this is just normal now, an heartbreaking and embarrassing mess. Where did it all go so wrong.

Will any competent employee, receiving remuneration and not devoid of conscience, comprehend the disappointment and danger arising from the dreadful conditions and hygiene on the M27 and others? Will at least one employee be found who would recognize the seriousness of the situation? It’s downright alarming that after the lengthy repair and reconstruction, there is aquaplaning… Moreover, the blocked drains only worsen the problem, emphasizing the obvious lack of maintenance and glaring negligence.
The disregard for the cleanliness of the highway is equally alarming. There is a shocking discrepancy between the high political rhetoric regarding environmental concerns and the grim reality of our infrastructure. Although it’s fashionable to discuss these issues in prestigious forums or on television, the absolute truth on the ground not only refutes this superficial concern but also shocks the conscience.
It’s high time for those in power to prioritize infrastructure maintenance and to take care of the cleanliness of the highways. After all, we all pay them for it.

Thank you for contacting us via FixMyStreet on 15 March 2024 to report your concerns for litter between M1 Wakefield and J42 exit southbound and northbound. We appreciate the time you’ve taken to contact us.
We share your concern about litter on our network. It’s a huge challenge to keep roads free of litter and debris, but one we strive to achieve on a daily basis. Lives can be put at risk due to litter, as it can’t be collected on many roads without closing lanes and installing and removing traffic management, which can be hazardous for our operatives.
Our overall approach to litter on our network can be found on the following link. https://nationalhighways.co.uk/ our-work/ environment/ litter-on-motorways-and-major-a-roads/ .
We also work with various local authorities in order to better coordinate the removal of litter and anti-litter organisations which aim to tackle litter at source and make litter socially unacceptable. Litter picking is an activity that is undertaken as a minimum annually, but as often as required should the need necessitate. Litter picks are also undertaken prior to vegetation clearance.
With reference to the M1 from J40 to J30 (Area12), this would instigate a further litter pick. The M1 will be litter picked as part of routine maintenance from May, when vegetation is cut back.
