Drainage problem creating high levels of standing water across carriageway

Reported via desktop in the Flooding/drainage (NH) category anonymously at 21:43, Tuesday 12 March 2024

Sent to National Highways less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 5704311.

During this winter, there is regularly standing water across both northbound lanes and occasionally on the southbound lanes. The water looks like it is coming from the west by the sports club. It has caused traffic jams and near misses with traffic suddenly slowing. Looks like improvements to ditches are required. I’m surprised to see NH state that the problem is fixed, against an earlier report. It clearly isn’t resolved.

Updates

  • Still an issue today. Water across both carriages stretching across both north and southbound. Lots of standing water, this happens every time it rains.

  • Lots of water on the carriageway with recent rain. Clearly a drainage problem exists! Are you going to inspect this?

  • Still awaits an update and proper response. It is negligent to note that this item was closed in February , based upon a similar report nearby.
