In central verge - several large growths of Japanese Knotweed. Invasive and controlled plant. Needs eradicating.

Reported via mobile in the Overgrown or obscuring view (NH) category anonymously at 15:29, Wednesday 6 March 2024

Sent to National Highways less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 5677300.

Located in the central verge between north and south bound traffic along the A3 can be found several large growths of Japanese Knotweed. This needs to be eradicated by Highways England. It easily spreads and can damage underground infrastructure such a water, sewage, building foundations (houses and businesses are nearby), electrics, etc. I notice this issues was originally reported in 2021 in the same location. The report was closed by Highways England despite it still being a problem. It has no doubt spread in the last 3 years and is now a bigger issue and will cost more than if it had been dealt with promptly and thoroughly in 2021. Please organise an eradication plan. If it spreads, compensation claims by local property owners could cost you a lot more.
