Hard to see white lines

Reported via desktop in the Faded / Hard to see (NH) category anonymously at 07:29, Sun 3 March 2024

Sent to National Highways less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 5659501.

When driving direction is face to sun light in J7 at M27, it is very hard to see the white lines due to very bright sunlight especially during 1320-1340hrs. I found the problem less visible of white line is because the road surface is light colour. If dark color of road surface is used, whiteline will be more visible. Please can you change the road surface back to dark color from J5 to J7 in both direction or add high visible color on white line which is easily to see during strong sunlight.

Please can you check it and improve it as it is easily to overtake other line incorrctly.

Updates

  • I’d like to thank you for bringing this issue to our attention and I apologise confusion these road markings are causing. We really appreciate the information and feedback we receive, and value the perspective you bring as someone who uses our network. I’m pleased to report that we do have plans to address this issue in the coming year. An overlay scheme will be replacing the existing concrete with tarmac to address the driving experience and the difficulty with visibility due to the glare from the sun. For further information I’ve included a link to our webpage where all of our updates can be found https://nationalhighways.co.uk/ our-roads/ south-east/ m27-junction-5-to-7-concrete-overlay/
