Delays again!

Reported via mobile in the Traffic lights (NH) category anonymously at 15:26, Thu 22 February 2024

Sent to National Highways less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 5616149.

Since the new bypass has been completed it would appear all travelling from over Wyre across shard bridge are now having to endure significant delays in their journey. Travelling just under 4 miles now takes in excess of 1 hour. Shocking!!!

Updates

  • Thank you for your report on 22 February regarding the A585 Windy Harbour to Skippool project.

We apologise for any delays or inconvenience caused on Shard Road and Mains Lane last week. As soon as we became aware of the issue, we worked immediately to resolve it and changed the traffic light timings.

On Wednesday 21 February 2024 we finished the installation and testing of the permanent traffic lights at Skippool Bridge junction which are working on a timed system until we finish the installation and testing of traffic detectors under the road surface, due to be completed this week.

Once the traffic detectors are completed, the lights will be more intuitive and will react to the traffic flows, altering the timings of the lights accordingly without the need for manual intervention or monitoring.

Our technicians manually altered the timing of the lights on 22 February to allow traffic to run more smoothly. The lights will continue to be monitored during peak periods and if required, any further adjustments will be made until the system is finalised this week.

Your patience and understanding during this phase of work are greatly appreciated.

If you have any further queries, please don’t hesitate to contact us.

    Kind regards,

The A585 Windy Harbour to Skippool project.
