Left lane uneven/subsiding - Westbound A40

Reported via mobile in the Road surface (NH) category anonymously at 17:00, Sun 18 February 2024

Sent to National Highways less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 5595247.

A40 Left-hand lane (lane 1) travelling westbound has become uneven and appearing to subside, with potholes appearing along join lines.

It is becoming unsafe to use this lane at speed (70mph) due to uneven surface. Vehicles are unable to manoeuvre around potholes when other traffic is in lane 2.

Other traffic appears to avoid using this lane entirely to avoid the uneven surface, keeping right in lane 2 when they should be in lane 1.

It would appear this lane needs resurfacing to bring it back up level and to remove the join lines that regularly introduce potholes.
