Very bright at night

Reported via mobile in the Continually On (NH) category anonymously at 17:47, Saturday 17 February 2024

Sent to National Highways less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 5591617.

Work has been carried out this week outside my property during unsociable hours and has been commencing around 1 am to 4 am. The movement of the Lampost outside the property of 58/60 Brighton Road, Hooley, CR5 3EE. I would like to complain about no notification of this work being carried out. In addition, with a new light it leaves a reflective presence in my bedroom at night. This means I am unable to have a proper night sleep so far. In addition to the words of the duties carried out by the workmen, it has been terribly noisy and I have suffered this week of sleep deprivation. This has had an impact on my ability to function properly in my occupation.

Going forwards, the light shines into my bedroom which faces the front of the property which has an impact on me sleeping at night. Appreciate the work has just been recently completed. However, can the angle of the light be directed to non-residential properties

Thank you in advance and look forward to hearing your response

Updates

  • The council has advised it is not their problem as they're not responsible for the lighting and recommended I go to Surrey county Council.

After contacting Surrey county Council, day two confirmed they are also not responsible for it and think it's highways agency responsibility. What is really odd it is only one light that has been changed across the street.
