The stone walls bordering the Longdendale reservoirs, are in a dreadful state of repair. So many broken walls above drops down to the water. Never seen this so bad. Not sure if it's a Highways problem or water company issue? Not even sure which water authority, is it UU, or Yorks Water? Please could you forward to them if it is not a Highways issue.

  • Thank you for making your report.

There are multiple owners of the walls alongside the A628. Some are owned by UU, some are the landowners' responsibility and some are National Highways' responsibility, but generally only if they are classed as a retaining wall.

We do have work planned for the next financial year to repair a number of sections of wall in this area. The scheme is still in design and the current forecast for construction is from July to November. This is subject to design completion and pricing, and therefore may possibly change.

    Kind regards National Highways
