Deep potholes

Sent to National Highways less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 5585447.

Deep potholes in BOTH lanes in the middle of the A56 dual carriageway as you are driving UP (North) towards Rising Bridge Roundabout Accrington just before Carrs Industrial Estate. We had a full car and ended up with a puncture and damaged wheel. Again these need to be filled in as a matter of urgency before there is a serious accident. they are deeper than before? I dread to think what might have happened if we were in a small vehicle.

  • Thank you for making your report of potholes on the A56. We have asked our inspection team to attend this location and assess the issue. If any work is needed, they will arrange for this to happen. Should no immediate work be required we will continue to monitor this during our regular inspections.

    Although we always aim to complete repairs as quickly as possible, timescales do vary as we try to minimise disruption to customers by combining activities into single closures and always ensuring the safety of our people.
