Disruption due to proposed LTN introduction

Reported via desktop in the Structures (eg bridges, fencing, noise barriers) (NH) category anonymously at 07:17, Tue 13 February 2024

Sent to National Highways less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 5569209.

Bath and North East Somerset council are proposing to close off part of the Major Road Network linking to the A36 by making New Sydney Place (currently part of the MRN) a low traffic neighbourhood, preventing through traffic. This will divert all A36 traffic onto Beckford Road, adding further to the severe periodic congestion and pollution on the Westbound A36. I understand that 30% of westbound A36 traffic arriving at the traffic lights uses the New Sydney Place to get to the A4 west.

Updates

  • Thank you for contacting National Highways concerning New Sydney Place.

This part of the network is managed by Bath and North East Somerset Council. The Strategic Road Network (SRN) ends south west of Trossachs Drive and the proposals are unlikely to materially affect the operation of the SRN.

We'll, of course, make the Council aware of your concerns regarding the operation of their network via our general liaison with them.

If you require any further information please contact our Customer Contact Centre on 0300 123 5000 or info@nationalhighways.co.uk

    Kind regards
