Cable from telegraph pole loose and hanging low

Reported via mobile in the Structures (eg bridges, fencing, noise barriers) (NH) category anonymously at 19:38, Monday 12 February 2024

Sent to National Highways less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 5568369.

On northbound side verge between Ashton and layby with the 49 bus cafe. A cable from the telegraph poles is loose and hanging low, lower than the hedge line but not touching the ground. Didn't look to be broken or in danger of breaking but not sure if it could swing into the road with the wind

  • Thank you for contacting National Highways.

We're aware of the issue with these cables and we've asked a team to visit and make this area safe to ensure the safety of road users. These cables are an asset owned by Airband. We’ve reported this to them so they’re aware further work needs undertaking. We’ve raised a section 81 with them through our control room. A section 81 is when an undertaker having apparatus/asset on a road shall ascertain that this is maintained to a reasonable satisfaction.
