  • Thank you for your email of 31 January 2024 about litter on the verges and central reservations on the M621. We understand your concerns and appreciate you taking the time to contact us about the issue.

Litter is a serious and widespread problem and our strategy for dealing with it can be found via https://nationalhighways.co.uk/ our-work/ environment/ litter-on-motorways-and-major-a-roads/ .

We typically clear this location 6 times per year. We've checked and can confirm there were overnight closures in this area anti-clockwise between M621 J4 to M62 J27 for three nights, 29 to 31 January. There are also clockwise closures between M62 J27 and M621 J1 for three nights, 1 to 3 February. Work will take place to sweep, pick litter and clear/maintain drainage assets on the west-facing slip roads at M621 and the mainline from there to the M62 at Gildersome during these closures.

Thank you again for contacting us. If there is anything we can help you with, please email or telephone our Contact Centre.
