Graffiti, on gantry across M275 into Portsmouth, sign for Naval Base

Reported via mobile in the Graffiti (NH) category anonymously at 19:39, Sunday 28 January 2024

Sent to National Highways less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 5502664.

The graffiti looks like a “gang tag” as it has an identifying number on it? It is an eyesore, creating a negative image on entering the city and could be considered as ‘marking territory’ if it is a tag which feels threatening. This gantry has been continuously defaced for the last few years. It not only is an eyesore but must have been dangerous to get up there. Why access is so easy I’ve no idea.

  • Thank you for contacting National Highways about graffiti.

We aim to remove or cover offensive graffiti within 24 hours of our inspection. Non-offensive graffiti is dealt with under planned cyclical works and can take much longer.

We will arrange for our local inspector to look at this on his regular safety inspection of this route and they will arrange a suitable solution.
