Bridge closure

Reported via desktop in the Structures (eg bridges, fencing, noise barriers) (NH) category anonymously at 16:45, Monday 22 January 2024

Sent to National Highways less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 5476949.

This bridge over the M4 has now been closed for over 6months with no end to the problems it has caused and no nearer to getting the bridge repaired or replaced. Its is a major road A342 between Yate and connection to the motorway. The amount of heavy traffic now having to use the narrow Henfield Rd which is a country lane, is dangerous for residents it is also causing damage to the road and environment. There are no buses running through Coalpit Heath along the main A432 due to the bridge closure causing the village to be cut off. We can not understand why a temporary bridge such as Bailey bridge has not been constructed by now. Can you please let us know what urgency is being applied to getting this bridge either repaired and dismantled please? Can alternative measures be taken rather than to having to wait all this time for this to be rectified? Thank you
