Dead Tree

Reported via desktop in the Fallen/ Dead Tree (NH) category anonymously at 13:52, Sat 20 January 2024

Sent to National Highways less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 5467885.

Hi, I am reporting from Aldridge Road Allotments, which borders the M6 adjacent to Perry Barr Park, between J7 and J6 southbound. In the approx location of the pin, there is a large tree, species believed to be False Accacia. A large section of this tree is completely dead, and appears to have been for some time (only main trunk/branches standing, bleaching bark/exposed wood). In recent windy weather, some branches have fallen onto the allotments.

I am concerned about the safety of this tree in its current condition and feel that drastic pruning or felling would be appropriate.

The tree is within an embankment area between the motorway fencing, and the allotment boundary fence. I understand this area of land to be the responsibility of highways, rather than Birmingham city council.

The tree is immediately behind our boundary fence. You may find access is easiest and safest from the allotments (which you are welcome to do), rather than via the motorway.

Thank you.
