White lines not visible and confusing with tarmac seam in road

Reported via mobile in the Faded / Hard to see (NH) category anonymously at 15:36, Mon 8 January 2024

Sent to National Highways less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 5414773.

Even though I know the problem, I still struggle to identify the lane and am drawn into the lane running parallel. This is always the case, but is even worse at night, and when wet.

The same problem exists around Jct 7. It is very dangerous and is an accident waiting to happen.

Updates

  • I’d like to thank you for bringing this issue to our attention and I apologise confusion these road markings are causing. We really appreciate the information and feedback we receive, and value the perspective you bring as someone who uses our network. I’m pleased to report that we do have plans to address this issue in the coming year. An overlay scheme will be replacing the existing concrete with tarmac to address the driving experience and the difficulty with visibility due to the glare from the sun. For further information I’ve included a link to our webpage where all of our updates can be found https://nationalhighways.co.uk/ our-roads/ south-east/ m27-junction-5-to-7-concrete-overlay/
