Chamber/manhole cover loose/noisy

A chamber cover is loose and extremely noisy. It’s on the southbound outside lane of the A34. Noise is constant, night and day. Because of its location every single car hits it at high speeds, causing very loud noises. We can’t sleep/rest here. It’s very annoying. It’s been happening for the last few weeks, not sure if related to the recent works in the area by a gas utility company. It’s so loose that I think soon will become a safety hazard for cars too. Hopefully no one will get injured.

This manhole cover could easily break or come loose and cause a major accident, it is noisy but mostly it is a danger to life. Please get it fixed ASAP. With all the issues we have in the area we could do without anyone getting into an accident for something that is so simple to fix.

Lane on A34 currently closed precisely because of an issue with this manhole cover. It seems it broke in half…long traffic queues since 6pm today

Although we always aim to complete repairs as quickly as possible, timescales do vary as we try to minimise disruption to customers by combining activities into single closures and always ensuring the safety of our people.
