Build up of weeds on M53 over J2 roundabout

Reported via desktop in the Overgrown or obscuring view (NH) category by Cllr. Ian Lewis at 18:06, Wed 3 January 2024

Sent to National Highways less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 5389367.

The motorway over the M53 J2 roundabout is weed strewn - both on the the sides of the crash barriers and the central reservation. Litter and debris is collecting and gullies are filled with waste and water is not draining.

Updates

  • Thank you for contacting National Highways about weeds, litter and debris.

We have passed your report to our local inspector who will review the issue as part of their next safety inspection and arrange any remedial action.

Littering by people is, unfortunately, a behaviour that has a big impact on some parts of our roads. We aim to keep our roads as tidy and free of litter as we can.

Our litter picking is carefully planned to try to minimise the impact it has on road users and the safety of our people. Litter picks often require lane closures, which are disruptive to traffic flow. To help reduce the frequency of this disruption, where we can, we usually combine our reactive litter picks with other maintenance work which can result in what appears to be a delayed response.

    Kind regards National Highways
