A1 northbound at Wideopen North of Newcastle-upon-Tyne, road sign showing distances to towns covered in graffiti, reported this last week but on wrong location.

  • Thank you for contacting National Highways about graffiti.

    We aim to remove or cover offensive graffiti within 24 hours of our inspection. Non-offensive graffiti is dealt with under planned cyclical works and can take longer.

    We will arrange for our local inspector to look at this on their regular safety inspection of the route.

  • Good work, took a few weeks but drivers can now see the wording on the sign and obvious lesser graffiti on other road signs also removed
