Graffiti on road signs

Reported via mobile in the Graffiti (NH) category anonymously at 23:48, Tue 19 December 2023

Sent to National Highways less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 5339465.

Most of the road side and overhead signs on the A2 between Bluewater and Gravesend have been graffitied. I reported this issue in relation the overhead sign for the Northfleet (London bound) turn off around 8 months ago and nothing has been done. Very poor. This stretch of the A2 is also heavily littered and needs regular cleaning.

Updates

  • Thank you for contacting National Highways about graffiti and litter at this location. We aim to remove or cover offensive graffiti within 24 hours. Non-offensive graffiti is dealt with under planned cyclical works and can take much longer. We will arrange for our local inspector to look at this on his regular safety inspection of this route and they will arrange a suitable solution. Littering by people is, unfortunately, a behaviour that has a big impact on some parts of our roads. We aim to keep our roads as tidy and free of litter as we can. Our litter picking is carefully planned to try to minimise the impact it has on road users and the safety of our people. Litter picks often require lane closures, which are disruptive to traffic flow. To help reduce the frequency of this disruption, where we can, we usually combine our reactive litter picks with other maintenance work which can result in what appears to be a delayed response. Kind regards National Highways
