All the lights have been off between J5 & J6 for months

Reported via desktop in the Not working (NH) category anonymously at 08:05, Sat 16 December 2023

Sent to National Highways less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 5326412.

There is a report from 5th September 2023 about this issue. Does it take over 3 months to fix the lights, or have they been turned off to save the cost of electricity? This is particularly dangerous in the Winter months and especially during the evening rush hour. There are often long queues coast bound and drivers crossing lanes to avoid or jump the queue. Working lights would make the journey so much safer.

This report is now closed to updates from the public. You can make a new report in the same location.

Updates

  • Thank you for your report. We’re aware there are multiple outages between junctions 5 and 7 of the M20. There are currently multiple cable issues along this stretch of the M20. Remedial work is planned to tackle some of the lighting columns that can be fixed in the New Year. Further structural work is also planned from spring 2024 to tackle the more complex lighting infrastructure issues. Kind Regards, National Highways
