A3 Hindhead Tunnel Southbound Incorrect Signage - Again!

Sent to National Highways less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 5293516.

Yet again there were incorrect signs at the southbound A3 Hindhead tunnel, causing confusion for drivers at 1225 today. Only the last approach sign had a 40 speed limit sign, the preceding ones were blank. The overhead sign at the tunnel entrance warned of an incident but the speed limit signs in the tunnel were at derestricted. There was no incident!

Updates

  • Today, 15/01/24, there was the exact same issue on the north-bound side. Roughly 9:00AM. National Speed Limit signs, followed by a few 40MPH limit, claiming there to be an accident ahead. Further down the tunnel the smaller signs were displaying National Speed Limit, followed by defective signs trying to display something (unreadable), followed by more warnings. The coast was clear, there was no accident. VERY dangerous, as I found myself unsure of how fast I was meant to be driving. Signage defects... or entrapment?
