A1 junction 74 (Newburn) southbound - just after the left turn on the sliproad as you head downhill, there is a change in tarmac. There was previously road markings here, however, they have degraded and left potholes under them. Additionally there is a wide pothole spreading over two lanes from the centre marking which has got significantly larger and deeper over the last two months. It's almost unsighted due to the corner and downhill gradient

Updates

  • As I reported some months ago for the Northbound slip road at this junction (which was resurfaced) there are large areas in which the entire top layer of road surface has cracked and broken away. This has created wide tramlines which a wheel can easily get into and then be bounced out of causing damage to vehicles and potential serious accidents. These are both at the top of the slip road and the bottom of the slip road in a braking area approaching the traffic lights - it is only a matter of time until there is an accident in which the road surface is a contributing factor - these sections of road need resurfacing.
