Vegetation in the emergency escape lane.

Reported via mobile in the Road surface (NH) category by Matthew Daniels at 13:31, Mon 4 December 2023

Sent to National Highways less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 5280363.

Driving HGV Artics, Rigid HGV's, Coaches and buses and has personally had a vehicle experiencing Brake Fade. I'm constantly passing this emergency escape lane and I'm very concerned that the amount of overgrowth in this area will not stop a vehicle in need of it. The root systems in this overgrowth would had spread out so much that it would have made a tightly bound root system that tyres will have trouble sinking into.

Could it be cleared as soon as possible and have the sand loosened up to allow vehicles to sink in it.

I'm also wondering how this location has been deemed the optimal location for an escape lane as it is so far up the hill to be of any use. The road gets far steeper and longer further down the road from this escape lane that it would be a safer option to have it situated past the next junction.
